Join us for the Inaugural Baptist Health Bun Run. This the River Region’s ONLY colon cancer awareness! The 2020 Bun Run will be held at the DeBoer Building on the campus of Baptist East on Saturday, March 7, 2020. The Bun Run 5K is a timed race and will be a family fun event that will also include a 1 Mile Walk along with a Kids Dash. There will be a children’s area including inflatables, face painting and crafts. Every child running in the Kids Dash will receive a super hero cape to wear. Each 5K participant will receive a Bun Run T-shirt and Race Bib with their paid registration. There will be awards given to race winners. Several vendors will be in attendance along with health professionals and organizations to share awareness information.
The Baptist East Endoscopy Department is passionate about educating the community regarding the importance of screening colonoscopies. These screenings provide proper diagnosis of pre-cancerous or cancerous polyps/masses. Colon cancer affects both men and women equally and is 90% curable when caught early. Colon cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States. Colorectal cancer can occur at any age. Screenings at the appropriate age are vitally important catching this disease process early.
Our goal is to raise funds for colon cancer patients that need assistance with cost for treatments, transportation and other needs associated with their diagnosis. All proceeds will be donated to the Baptist Health Foundation where these funds will be distributed to Montgomery Cancer Center colon cancer patients.
